Food Security
The Central West Gippsland PCP has achieved significant success in promoting individual and communities’ ability to access healthy, affordable and appropriate food in the Latrobe and Baw Baw LGA’s.
Due to food insecurity in the catchment, the Central West Gippsland PCP facilitated the development of Food Security Coalitions in Baw Baw and Latrobe.
Baw Baw
The Baw Baw Food Security Coalition was established in 2012 and has delivered over 174 interventions to improve food security in the Baw Baw Shire resulting in improved food security, increased collaboration and action, improved access and availability to healthy food, and fruit and vegetable consumption above the state average:

‘Pit Stop’ Project
A collaborative project to deliver the Men’s Health initiative ‘Pit Stop’ across the catchment, including the delivery of events and conduction of health screening checks. The project also explores the effectiveness of interventions to support mens’ health initiatives in Gippsland, recognising the health discrepancies seen between men and women and particularly seen in the rural setting.

Baw Baw & Latrobe Valley Community Kitchens Cookbook Project
Members of Community Kitchens in Baw Baw and Latrobe Valley have produced a cookbook.
Volunteers contributed many of the recipes and health workers collated them into a book.
Hard copies of the cookbook have been produced for Community Kitchen groups but you are welcome to download or print off a copy:
