Keeping our population healthy is important. Victoria is at the forefront in leading reform in disease prevention and early detection and has invested in a range of prevention initiatives targeting specific areas such as tobacco reform, obesity, physical activity, sexual health, heart disease, cancer screening and skin cancer prevention.
Primary Care Partnerships (PCP’s) have a proven history of enhanced integrated prevention planning through capacity building.
The Central West Gippsland PCP works with communities in Latrobe and Baw Baw to maximise their health and wellbeing.
Integrated Health Promotion / Prevention
The Central West Gippsland PCP provides Health Promotion advice and guidance as well as access to Health Promotion/Prevention resources.
We work with key agencies and its members to support and facilitate greater integrated health promotion planning in both Baw Baw and Latrobe through each LGA’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. This ensures a coordinated and collaborative approach to prevention and health promotion at the sub-regional level.
The Central West Gippsland PCP has achieved significant success in promoting individual and communities’ ability to access healthy, affordable and appropriate food in the Latrobe and Baw Baw LGA’s.
Due to food insecurity in the catchment, the Central West Gippsland PCP facilitated the development of Food Security Coalitions in Baw Baw and Latrobe.
